translate : Malayalam

New Delhi: The Salem-Chennai Express Highway has been given the green light by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court allowed the acquisition of agricultural land for the project. Earlier, the project was suspended due to protests by farmers.

The Salem-Chennai Express Highway project is being implemented at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore. A petition was filed in the Madras High Court against this and an order was issued by the court to stop the construction work. The National Highways Authority has approached the Supreme Court against this.

An eight-lane road will be constructed from Salem to Chennai at a distance of 277 km. With the advent of the Express Highway, the Salem-Chennai journey time will be reduced to three hours. Currently it is six hours.
