In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the release of water from the Bhavani Sagar dam for 15 to 120 days.

According to a press release issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the water level in the Bhavani Sagar Dam in Erode district will not exceed 23,846.40 million cubic feet for 120 days from December 15 to December 12 for the first phase of the main canal twin project of the Keelpavani project. Canals and the first of the single canals of the Chennasamudram supply canal.

1 lakh 3 thousand 500 acres of land in Koppi, Bhavani, Perunthurai, Erode, Modakurissi, Kodumudi circles, Kangayam circle in Tirupur district and Aravakurichi circle in Karur district will be irrigated.
