Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to increase the supply of medical oxygen and send the oxygen produced in Bengal to other states. At the top of the letter the CM wrote ‘very urgently’ with a pen. The Chief Minister requested that the supply of oxygen to Kovid patients be increased to 550 MT per day. Mamata wrote, ‘The demand for medical oxygen has increased as corona infections have increased in the state. It requires 480 metric tons of oxygen every day. It will rise to 550 MT in the next 7-8 days.

However, the Center is allocating more to other states without increasing the allocation for Bengal. This is done from the oxygen produced in Bengal. According to Mamata, oxygen supply from one state to another has increased from 230 metric tonnes to 280 metric tonnes in the last 10 days. 306 MT of oxygen was allotted to Bengal. Although the demand is 550 MT.
