Sivagangai
A schoolboy drowned while fishing near Devakottai.
Ramanathan is located in the Ammachi Urani area near Devakottai in Sivagangai district. Son Rajagutham (13). He was a ninth grader at a private school there. In this condition Rajagavatham yesterday went fishing with his friends to Nattan Kanmayi in the same area.
Then, unexpectedly, he fell into the water and drowned. Those who were nearby informed the Devakottai fire station. When firefighters arrived at the scene and conducted a search, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Devakotta taluk police seized the body and sent it to a government hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered against Ramanathan in the incident and an investigation is underway.
