Black fungus: Medical facilities in all district hospitals!

Ramadas demanded that medical facilities be set up in all district hospitals as black fungus is spreading.

In a statement, PAMAC founder Ramdas said, “It is shocking that people are still recovering from the fear of the corona virus spreading. This created a lot of fear among the people and they should be aware of the disease and be prepared to deal with the black fungus disease without stress.

Black fungus, also known by its medical name Mucormycosis in English, is a very rare but deadly disease. There is no need to be afraid as this fungus does not affect everyone; Attention and awareness are enough. Steroid medications taken to recover from an illness temporarily reduce our body’s ability to fight off the germs that use the black fungus that lives in the air around us, juicy fruits and vegetables, and mixes with our blood through the eyes and mouth.

The disease first affected thousands of people in India, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi and Gujarat, and has now spread to Tamil Nadu. In Madurai district alone, more than 50 people have been affected by the disease. Suresh, a young man with corona in Mettur, Salem district, lost his sight after being attacked by a black fungus at the same time. A 12-year-old girl in Chennai is suffering from this disease. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated in almost all districts of Tamil Nadu. At the same time, a kind of fear is spreading among the people due to lack of awareness about this disease. This should be avoided immediately.

There is no doubt that black fungus is a deadly disease. But it is not a disease that can be transmitted from one person to another. The public needs to pay attention as it not only steals sight but also spreads rapidly to the brain and takes away lives. The disease occurs in people whose blood sugar level rises uncontrollably due to injection of steroids during coronavirus treatment. But even those who are not affected by corona need to be very careful if their sugar levels are high. Symptoms of black fungus include swelling and pain in the eyes, redness of the eyes, decreased vision, swelling of the face, and discharge of bloody fluid from the nose. People with such symptoms can recover from the disease by contacting a doctor immediately.

The main problem facing Tamil Nadu with regard to black fungus is the unavailability of medicine for the disease and the fear of the people about it. Who is affected by this disease? What to do immediately if symptoms appear? In which hospitals are medical facilities available? Only corona victims can be attacked. Or does the disease affect everyone with high sugar? People need to be made aware of this. To this end, the medical advice given by medical professionals should be televised at regular intervals.

The amphotericin B vaccine used to treat black fungal infections is rare. The drug is not available in cities other than Chennai. It is learned that the Central Government has imported 6 lakh doses of drugs across the country due to shortage of drugs. The first step is to make the drug available to all Medical College Hospitals and District Hospitals in Tamil Nadu without any hindrance. The next step is to ensure this drug and medical facility in circular hospitals as well.

Being aware of the details of black fungus disease and consulting a doctor immediately if you have any symptoms will overcome this disease. Therefore, I urge people to be careful not to be afraid of black fungus. ”
