Afghanistan: IS threatens to attack Kabul airport? Washington claimed

The United States has said IS has threatened to attack Kabul amid clashes at the airport. In this context, the Biden government has expressed concern over how to safely repatriate civilians trapped in Kabul. The Pentagon said in a statement that it was considering whether to allow Americans stranded in the Afghan capital to return to Kabul airport.

In an interview with US media, two defense officials said that IS was planning to attack Hamid Karzai’s airport. That is how the threatening message came to the fore. In this case, Washington said the alternative route being explored to get to the airport could be used by “preferred” Afghan citizens without citizens of the United States or a third country.

Citizens of many countries are still stranded at Kabul airport. In this case, the threat of an IS attack on the airport spread among them. The U.S. embassy barred U.S. citizens from entering the airport due to security concerns outside Kabul airport. The White House estimates that 16,000 people were deported to the United States from August 14.
