Relatives staged a road blockade demanding the arrest of the accused in the case of a young man who committed suicide by drinking poison in a land dispute near Vandavasi.
Baskaran (25) hails from Vilanallur village near Vandavasi in Thiruvannamalai district. Wage laborer. He was married to Deepa (21) last year. Meanwhile, a land dispute arose between Baskerville and others in the same area. Thus he appeared to be depressed. In this case, he tried to commit suicide by drinking poison at home last Tuesday night.

His family rushed him to Vandavasi Government Hospital. He was later admitted to Vellore Government Hospital for further treatment. There, Baskaran succumbed to his injuries without the intensive care of doctors. In this context, Baskaran’s relatives yesterday blocked the road in front of the Vadavanakampadi police station demanding action against those responsible for his suicide.
Thus the traffic on Vandavasi-Chettupattu road was affected. DSP Vishweswaraiah, who came to know about the incident, assured that appropriate action would be taken in this regard. Bhaskar’s relatives accepted the offer and left the strike.
