Engineer Gopal, who was driving the car in the accident, died on the spot. Four workers, including Alakesan, a native of Puduchampally, were seriously injured. He was rushed to Sankagiri Government Hospital but died on the way to Alakeshan Hospital. The other three were given first aid there and then taken to Salem Government Hospital for further treatment.
Following the information, the bodies of Sankagiri police engineers Gopal and Alakeshan were recovered and sent to a government hospital for postmortem. Sankagiri police have registered a case and are investigating the tanker truck driver.
