Such attempts by the Sri Lankan Navy to usurp the traditional fishing rights of Tamil Nadu fishermen in the Gulf of Bagh should be permanently stopped through concerted efforts by the Central Government. The fishing community is in deep despair. The Prime Minister should directly intervene in this matter and direct the Union Ministry of External Affairs to bring the matter to the attention of the Sri Lankan authorities for the immediate release of the fishermen and their fishing boats.
