A complete curfew has been imposed in Tamil Nadu following the outbreak of the corona virus, forcing many to go hungry. Curfew made it difficult for those who lost their jobs and those living on the road to get food. As a result, many social workers have reached out to the food distribution sector. Some college students serve junk food and make people hungry.
In this regard, Chennai New College students cater to 400 students daily. Students who initially gave just 15 packets are now feeding 400 people with the help of professors and fellow students. They have arranged a packet of biryani with a bottle of water on the door of the college so that those who need it can pick it up.
The president of the New College Students’ Union said the service is called ‘Take it when you’ve hungry, don’t pay’. This activity of the students is commendable among the people.
