Sudden fire in an apartment in Mumbai; One died after jumping from the 19th floor

The fire broke out in a 61-storey apartment in Mumbai’s Karisala area. The man who jumped from the 19th floor to escape the fire died.

The fire broke out on the 19th floor of the One Avignom Park building on Curry Race Road in Mumbai, Maharashtra, this morning. The fire brigade arrived in 12 fire trucks and put out the fire. Meanwhile, Arun Tiwari, 30, who was working as a security guard on the 19th floor, came to know about the fire and tried to go downstairs by grabbing the wire.

But he lost control and fell from the 19th floor, injuring himself. Those present rescued him and took him to the nearby Chem Hospital. The doctors who examined him said he was already dead. An official said Arun Tiwari had been hanging for a few hours and had slipped and fallen.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Betnaker visited the spot. He later spoke about the incident, and after hours of fighting, the fire was brought under control by firefighters at 4.20pm. The fire brigade had prepared a ladder to rescue Arun Tiwari. He slipped and fell to his death. A video of Arun Tiwari falling while police were investigating the cause of the fire has been circulating on the internet.
