Anti-bribery officials have arrested a corporation bill collector for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 to determine a professional tax in Madurai.
Jayaraman works as a bill collector in the corporation’s office in the Alagappan Nagar area under the Madurai Corporation’s fourth zone. Ishwara Prasad in the same area applied for professional tax assessment for his 2 shops and Gudon.

It is said that Jayaraman demanded a bribe of Rs 4,000 for this. Not wanting to pay this, Ishwara Prasad lodged a complaint with the Madurai District Anti-Corruption Police. The anti-corruption department paid Rs 4,000 and handed over to Jayaraman for applying the chemical.
Similarly, Ishwara Prasad went to Jayaraman yesterday and paid a bribe of Rs 4,000. Jayaram, a police bill collector led by anti-corruption police inspector Kumaraguru, who was hiding there at the time, has been arrested and is being investigated.
