Plastic: The Ministry of Environment has announced that the use of single-use plastics will be phased out from July 1 next year

Since the first day of July 2022, the Center has banned single-use or disposable plastic or its products. The Union Environment Ministry announced the decision in a statement on Thursday. In addition, the notification states that polythene bags with a density of 120 microns should be used instead of 50 microns. However, from this year, the ministry talked about the use of such polythene bags in two stages.

According to the ministry’s notification, imported polystyrene, including imported, stored, distributed, sold, used, disposable plastic cup-plates, forks, spoons, confectionery or cigarette packs, has been banned since July 1.

Currently, the use of polythene bags with a density of less than 50 microns is banned in this country. However, from September 30 this year, the density of polythene bags should be increased from 50 microns to 75 microns. Since December 31, 2022, that standard has been changing. From then on you should use a polythene bag with a density of 120 microns. However, the notice states that not all plastic carry bags that can be reused in any way must comply with this concentration rule. However, the production, sale or sale of such plastics requires a certificate from the Central Pollution Control Board.

Pollution is on the rise across the country as a result of Deda’s plastic use. Although the government has taken steps to prevent plastic pollution, no specific action has been taken. According to the Ministry of Environment, 40 per cent of the country’s plastic waste is not collected. Although waste can be burned and destroyed, it does increase the level of air pollution. Again, the accumulation of plastic waste causes terrible damage to the environment. There is even plastic waste behind the pollution of rivers or seas.
