In 2021, Assembly elections were held in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Pondicherry. Nineteen political parties, including the BJP and the Congress, have received donations of over Rs 1,100 crore during the election. Of which Rs. More than Rs 500 crore has been spent on star campaigners, advertisements and campaign trips. This is according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and the National Election Monitoring Survey.
BJP
The BJP received a maximum of Rs 611.692 crore in donations during the Assembly elections in five states and union territories, of which Rs 252 crore was spent. The party spent Rs 85.26 crore on advertising, including media advertisements, and Rs 61.73 crore on travel expenses of star campaigners and other leaders.
Similarly, the Congress received Rs 193.77 crore. Congress has spent Rs 85,625 crore, including Rs 31.451 crore on advertising and Rs 20.40 crore on travel. Similarly, the DMK in Tamil Nadu received Rs 134 crore, the AIADMK Rs 14.41 crore and the Trinamool Congress Rs 54 crore in West Bengal.
Money
In the same vein, the Marxist Communist Party spent Rs. 79.24 crore and the Communist Party of India Rs. 5.68 crore have been donated. The Communist Party of India has spent Rs 3.50 crore on advertising.
