Letter through Virtual Meeting, Letter to Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman Trinamool

Trinamool has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Chairman Benkaiah Naidu requesting that the parliamentary committee meeting begin virtually. Trinamool Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien sent a letter to the two on the 7th of this month. The letter claimed that the Trinamool Parliamentary Party had earlier sent two letters on the same issue. But it is alleged that he did not pay attention to this. Derek said he was requesting in writing to start the parliamentary committee meeting three times through virtual media. Earlier, letters were sent to the principal and chairman in July and August with the same statement, but to no avail. The Parliamentary Committee has therefore requested that the meeting be resumed by letter.

The meeting also demanded that in addition to the Parliamentary Committee, the meetings of the Consultative Committee and the Select Committee should be started in a virtual manner. It should be noted that no committee meeting of Parliament has been held since March 2020 following the corona infection.

The letter also commented on the growing Kovid infection in the country. “An average of 300,000 people have been affected by corona in the last two weeks,” Derek wrote. In such a case all these meetings have to be held in a virtual way. The Trinamool Parliamentary Party has demanded that the Parliamentary Committee convene in secret in two chambers of Parliament. At the end of the letter, a Trinamool national spokesperson wrote, “In view of the seriousness of the situation in the country, a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee should be convened immediately.”
