The state health department is wary of the new form of corona. Health officials are set to hold an emergency meeting with doctors and airport authorities at the health building on Tuesday to monitor the arrival of passengers from certain countries at the Kolkata airport.
The Union Ministry of Health has decided to intensify surveillance on passengers coming from several countries to deal with the new form of corona. Seven more countries have recently been added to that list. The meeting is said to be aimed at deciding what kind of precautionary measures will be taken in case of passengers arriving at Kolkata Airport from the countries on the surveillance list.
Last week, two Bengal corona newcomers were attacked by Delta Plus, according to Swasthya Bhavan. Earlier, several people in the state were affected by Delta Plus, the Union Health Ministry said. Passengers arriving at Kolkata airports from South Africa, China, Bangladesh, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Botswana may be forced to undergo covid test to be aware of the new Corona in the state. Apart from this, the meeting will also discuss what other precautionary measures can be taken in case of passengers coming from that country. In addition to public health experts, virologists, health building officials and the Kolkata Port Authority will be present at the meeting.
