Of that, 2.5 lakh children contracted the disease last week. According to AAP figures, the number of new cases has increased by 26 percent.
The number of children admitted to the hospital has tripled in the past four weeks, said pediatrician Le Behner. In some cases, children with mild signs or symptoms had a multi-inflammatory system (MIS-C) for several months.
