In May alone, 6,000 children were affected in a single district, and Maharashtra is struggling to contain the third wave

Maharashtra is mainly affected by the second wave of corona virus. The number of daily attacks has dropped from 60,000 to 20,000 in the past few days. But in May, more than 6,000 children and adolescents became infected in the Ahmednagar district of the state. Thus, the second wave of corona affects young people more. Experts fear it could increase to a third wave. Therefore, the Ahmednagar district administration has already started preparations for this.

Ahmednagar District Magistrate Rajendra Bhonsle said, “In May, more than 6,000 children tested positive for corona. This trend is absolutely frightening. According to the district administration, 10 per cent of the total victims in the district in May were children. The district administration began preparations for the third wave in July or early August.

Preliminary preparations are underway as the third wave is likely to affect young people more. Abhijit Bhonsle, administrator of the border town of Sangli, said, “We are setting up a special ward for children. We are ready when the third wave comes. The little children in this ward will think they are in the hospital. Instead, they will think they are in a school or nursery. “It simply came to our notice then. The second wave had a shortage of oxygen and beds, he said. So all the waves happen before the third wave.
