Two persons, including a journalist from Periyakulam, were killed when their car collided with a lorry near Manappara in Trincomalee district.
Five people, including journalist Mohammad Aslam from Periyakulam in Theni district and his friend real estate tycoon Annakodi Mayan, went to a press conference in Trichy yesterday. Then 5 people were returning to Periyakulam in a luxury car last night. The car was speeding near Avarampatti section near Manappara when it collided head-on with a lorry on the road.

Journalist Mohammad Aslam and Annakodi Mayan, who were injured in the accident, died tragically. The driver of the car Radhakrishnan, journalists Velmurukan and Sivakumar were also injured. He was rushed to a private hospital in Manappara.
Vayyampatti police reached the spot and took out the bodies of the two deceased and sent them to Manappara Government Hospital for postmortem. In addition, a case has been registered and an investigation has been launched into the accident.
